Hillary Clinton wantsΒ The Onion's favorite vice president, Joe Biden, to take her old job as Secretary of State, according to a new report fromΒ Politico. The website, quoting "a source familiar with the planning," says that the Clinton campaign is "spending a lot of time figuring out the best way to try to persuade him to do it if she wins."

Biden has already been doing a fair amount of diplomatic work lately, traveling to Latvia to reassure Baltic states that the U.S. is committed to NATO, despite what Donald Trump might say. As veep, he also took a leading role in international hot spots like Ukraine and Iraq.Β

Clinton and Biden have had an up-and-down relationship over the years, and often were on opposite sides during Clinton's time as Secretary of State. Whether it was Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, or Libya, Clinton was in favor of more military action than the vice president. But still, they reportedly had "regular lunches and a warm personal relationship."

Biden, who has been on the national political stage for 44 years, and very publicly turned down the chance to run for president, may well not want the job. Then again, he has said that he regrets "every day" that he didn't aim for the White House, so a Cabinet position might seem enticing after all.Β

Regardless of what Biden may want, prominent thinkers, media, and regular Twitter users alike seem almost universally in favor of keeping Uncle Joe around.

Hillary Clinton for POTUS, the great Joe Biden for Secretary of State!
