Hillary Clinton's vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine is the butt of many jokes. Now, he's sure to face even more jokes because the harmonica player gave himself a new nickname: Lil Kaine.
Tim Kaine is the embodiment of dad jokes, and he proved it yet again in an interview with Power 98 FM. The vice presidential nominee called into "No Limit Larry & The Morning Maddhouse," a morning talk show on Charlotte's hip-hop and R&B station WPEG.
Before introducing Kaine, the host mentioned that the station had just played Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne. When Kaine came on the phone, he introduced himself with a cringe-worthy dad joke: "They call me Lil Kaine, not Lil Wayne."
The radio hosts lost it, dying laughing, and enthusiastically shouting, "Lil Kaine on the phone with us!"
Some people on Twitter got a kick out of Kaine's joke:
But others didn't take Kaine's nickname as well, with one person saying Kaine reminded them of "White & Nerdy" by Weird Al Yankovic:
After his "Lil Kaine" line, Kaine was asked about what he listens to on the campaign trail. He said campaigning can be "intense" but "music helps it go better." Kaine said he's a fan of The Isley Brothers, Gnarls Barkley, Sly & the Family Stone, and the Dave Matthews Band.
Beyond dad jokes and music, Kaine went on to discuss his past and how he got into politics. He also expressed concerns about police brutality in the interview.
