Huma Abedin, a close aide to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, is (finally) separating from her husband and disgraced former congressman, Anthony Weiner, following his latest sexting scandal. The New York Post published racy photos that Weiner had sent to a sexting partner last year. One of the photos also featured Abedin and Weiner's infant son.

Weiner gained national notoriety for his sexting antics in 2011, after he accidentally tweeted explicit photos he meant to send as a direct message. At the time, Weiner was thoroughly roasted for the rookie sexting mistake. Abedin stood by her husband after the initial sexting scandal, and then again when he got busted sending explicit messages while running for mayor of New York City in 2013.

But now, the Guardian reports that Abedin and Weiner are separating, according to a statement from Abedin:

"After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband," Abedin said in a statement. "Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy."

Twitter, the place where this whole unfortunate saga began, is seemingly alight with support for Abedin's decision to part ways with Weiner.
