Donald Trump's campaign spokesperson, Katrina Pierson, gave an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Tuesday that went way off the rails. While defending Trump's attacks against the parents of slain Army captain Humayun Khan, Pierson got her timeline a little confused. At the 2:48 mark of the clip below, she attempts to blame Khan's 2004 death on President Obama, who did not take office until 2009.
"It was under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that changed the rules of engagement that probably cost [Khan's] life," she said.
Blitzer quickly fact-checked Pierson's claim, and Twitter users created the hashtag #KatrinaPiersonHistory to poke fun at her mistake. Hashtag users jokingly attributed all sorts of world historical and fictional calamities to the current President.
Pierson even made an unsuccessful attempt to reclaim the hashtag.
But by that time, Twitter users were having far too much fun.
