The sudden appearance of a clown lurking the street corners of Green Bay, Wisconsin has residents completely unmoved, because, well, they see stuff like this all the time. So frequently, in fact, that locals have dedicated a Facebook page to sightings of the clown, and even lovingly given it the name "Gags."
Gags was first sighted at about 2 a.m. on August 1, clutching a handful of not-at-all-ominous black balloons, a look of perverse pleasure plastered across its white face.
Last year, someone in the Wisconsin town of Waukesha decided to run around in the middle of the night wearing an orange jumpsuit, because if you're going to commit to dressing like a clown, it might as well be one that has just busted out of prison. Waukesha Police Sgt. Jerry Habanek confirmed at the time that this specific clown was "a 15-year-old boy who is developmentally delayed" who just really liked watching people freak out at his choice of attire. He also said that "none of the clowns are doing anything illegal," though he classified their behavior as "odd."
Wisconsin residents face winters with an average of 55 inches of snow. The Green Bay Packers have lost the Super Bowl to the Broncos. The people of Wisconsin, in other words, have faced much more terrifying things than a clown.
