On Friday evening, protesters in Ferguson upset about the recent spate of police killings took their march to an unexpected place, shutting down an outdoor concert by the country band Diesel Island.

The concert took place at Ferguson Citywalk, a ten-block outdoor shopping area. The group Diesel Island is billed as "St Louis’ Best Outlaw Country Cover Band."

One of the protesters captured the event on video:

After the concert, protesters moved to the police department headquarters.

However, a few people who were at the concert came back with us to the #Ferguson PD. And we shut shit down on the way there.

People on the scene were reporting half a dozen arrests.

This was an eventful week in the Missouri city. On Wednesday morning, a hit-and-run driver plowed into a group of protesters who were outside of the police department. One protestor, Phillip Weeks, was treated for a concussion.

The action in Ferguson on Friday was one of many across the country, with major marches and rallies in Baton Rouge, Phoenix, New York City, and more.

The killing by police of Michael Brown in Ferguson in 2014 led to protests and unrest in the city in the weeks afterwards. Out of that scene came national recognition for Black Lives Matter and other organizations involved.
