UPDATE 07/01/16:

On Thursday police charged the girlfriend of Joseph C. Thoreson, previously identified only as K.D.G, as an accomplice to second-degree murder as well being charged with third-degree assault. Police identified the 22-year-old woman as Kayleene Danielle Greniger and released her mugshot.

According to the Duluth News Tribune Greniger is accused of tying up Haiman and beating him, even breaking his nose, along with Thoresen. She reportedly hid the machete Thoreson allegedly used to decapitate Haiman.

Greniger's accomplice charge is for: "destroying or concealing evidence of that crime, providing false or misleading information about that crime, receiving the proceeds of that crime, or otherwise obstructing the investigation or prosecution of that crime," reported the Duluth News Tribune.

A Minnesota man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder Tuesday for allegedly beheading his girlfriend's suspected rapist. Joseph C. Thoresen and his girlfriend, referred to in police reports as K.D.G. to protect her identity, reportedly confronted David A. Haiman at their apartment following the alleged rape, the Daily Beastreported. Haiman then agreed to have K.D.G. and Thoresen tie him up, at which point K.D.G. reportedly kicked him and broke his nose.

Following the beating, in which Thoresen is believed to have participated, the three took Haiman’s car to smoke weed with some friends before smoking something very, very different: meth. Thoresen, 35, then took Haiman's car into a wooded area, at which point an argument broke out among the three.

Authorities report that some undisclosed "car trouble" occurred, prompting Thoresen to exit the vehicle for inspection. Haiman followed closely behind, though he was stopped by Thoresen, who allegedly struck him in the head with a bat and stabbed him "multiple times." According to the police report, Thoresen used a machete in the stabbings. As Haiman was being attacked, K.D.G. attempted to intervene before Thoresen decapitated Haiman using a "large knife."

Thoresen, now facing up to 40 years in prison if convicted, is believed to have disposed of Haiman's head and torso at separate locations in the Itasca County area woods. Haiman's and his vehicle had been reported missing after he missed work, with his last recorded phone activity confirmed on June 21. Police discovered the vehicle, still being driven by Thoresen and another unidentified individual, initiating a high-speed chase that ended with Thoresen's apprehension.

Thoresen will next appear in court July 5, according to the Mesabi Daily News. His bail was set at $2 million without conditions.
