Three people have been killed and two more injured in a shooting in District Heights, Maryland on Friday night.

The five victims, all adults, were found inside of a house on the 3000 block of Orleans Street shortly before 10 p.m., according to Fox 5 DC. The area is described by reporters as "a quiet and calm neighborhood."

The two survivors were moved to a nearby trauma center. One of them is reportedly in stable condition, while the other is critical.

The police say the shooting "does not appear to be random," according to the AP. The authorities are searching for possible suspects.

Calls to the Prince George's County Police Department for comment were not immediately returned.

If anyone has information about the shooting, you are asked to call Prince George's County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.

This incident comes just days after a Congressional sit-in aimed at forcing a vote on gun control measures. That effort, sparked by the mass shooting at the Pulse Orlando nightclub, was ultimately unsuccessful. People on Twitter were not shy about connecting the Maryland shooting to the lack of Congressional action on guns.
