Former presidential campaign ruiner and current TV judge Sarah Palin has, in a move that we all hope is some sort of failed attempt at half-baked performance art, picked a fight with renown rock star scientist Bill Nye. Palin, who could possibly just be a malfunctioning robot gone awry, took aim at Lord Nye earlier this week with the following slice of words actually spoken in front of other people, at least according to the Hill:
"Bill Nye is as much a scientist as I am. He's a kids' show actor; he's not a scientist."
Holddddddd up. This is Bill Fucking Nye we're talking about, right? The same Bill Nye who was spotted just days ago hanging out at the White House for its sixth annual SCIENCE fair? The same Bill Nye who was taught by Carl Sagan while studying mechanical engineering at Cornell? The same Bill Nye who helped put together a sundial for the Mars Rover missions? Sadly, Palin had even more to say about our beloved Science Guy's greatest passion: guiding climate change deniers to the truth.
"[Climate change] is something that our candidates should be talking about and giving us their view on and hopefully acknowledging that it needs to become, in the science community, less political," Palin said at the event centered on the anti-science movie Climate Hustle in Washington D.C, again according to the Hill. "Otherwise, it leads us to believe that so many things coming from perhaps the scientists could be bogus. If this is bogus, you know, what else are they trying to tell us and trying to control us around if they can't get this one right?"
If Climate Hustle sounds like the kind of movie that would definitely fulfill its own title's promise of being hilariously awful, you're totally right. This kind of hilarity, however, is actually pretty dangerous for anyone absorbing this posturing goop like it's real information:
For those more into living a life based on things that are actually happening, the current status of Earth's steadily worsening climate situation is very dire indeed. Just ask people who know what they're talking about like, say, not Sarah Palin:
