Some people can be really famous with you every really noticing who they are. Case in point: Phil Sayer. You’ve probably never heard his name before, but you’ve definitely heard his voice if you’ve ever got on a train in London. Sayer was the guy who said the “Please mind the gap” recording that plays at every single stop.

Sadly, Sayer’s family have announced that he has passed away from cancer, aged 62. As well as the London Underground, he also recorded announcements for public transport around the UK, and was also a radio DJ in the 80s. He retired last month, due to ill health.

And shout out his his family for using the epitaph "We are sorry to announce that this service terminates here."
