Almost anyone can create a Wikipedia page, which might be why some of them are really weird.
If a specific topic doesn't have a page, all you have to do is research, write, and submit content for review before making one. With such a streamlined process, there are more than 5 million Wikipedia pages—so naturally, some may freak you out.
When Wonderful_M asked Redditors to share their creepiest Wikipedia pages, it didn't take long to compile a list:
Murders
If you weren't aware of America's history of creepy murders, Wikipedia can definitely help you out.
One Redditor highlighted a page describing the murderer of a 2-year-old. Even more disturbing? The perpetrators were two 10-year-olds.
"The fact that the killers were just children themselves is sickening," Massdebate159 responded.
Other Redditors shared creepy murder stories; check these out if you never want to sleep again:
Mass suicides
Anomalies
Wikipedia is also a great place to read up on rare syndromes, medical anomalies, or other problems you didn't even know existed.
For instance, the page on Locked-in Syndrome described it as "a condition in which a patient is aware but cannot move or communicate verbally due to complete paralysis of nearly all voluntary muscles in the body except for the eyes."
Other strange things:
- Stone Man Syndrome
- Coffin Birth
- Aokigahara Forest aka the Suicide Forest
- Shoemaker-Levy 9 Impact
- Tarrare and Charles Domery
- St. Vitus' Dance or the Dancing Mania
- Capgras Delusion
