A man in Vermont has been apprehended by local authorities after allegedly stealing a cat named Boots, the Associated Press reports. Miraculously, the man was also quite busy with additional tasks including but not limited to just hanging out in the unnamed family's home and enjoying their various amenities.

Mark Frady, who has now been charged with burglary and unlawful trespass, was reportedly "chased out" of the home after the people who actually live there found him in their basement watching TV, smoking cigarettes, and enjoying some coffee. Though Frady pleaded not guilty earlier this week to all charges, authorities also believe him to be responsible for the unlawful apprehension of two other local pets.

A judge has ordered that Frady, who claims he was simply looking for his own cat named Mason, be submitted to a competency evaluation. Security footage from the residence, obtained by Vermont State Police, allegedly shows the 54-year-old man stealing Boots.
