Twitter users remind us why being a black girl is lit

Beyoncé's "Formation," which dropped on Saturday and did better on Twitter than Rihanna's entire album, has already been deemed the new black anthem. Giving a nod to #BlackLivesMatter before cutting to a shot of Queen Bey on top of a submerged New Orleans police car, the former child of destiny gave the Internet a lot to discuss:

But Beyoncé didn't stop there; her political performance during Sunday's Super Bowl celebrated layers of black culture with lyrics, visuals, and style. The 34-year-old performer had an all-black cast of dancers dressed like members of black nationalist organization, the Black Panther Party. Queen Bey reminded everyone watching that black girls are here, and they're lit.

As a result of Beyoncé's weekend of pro-black women visuals, Black Twitter created the hashtag #BeingABlackGirlIsLit, which trended in the U.S. Monday:
