In recent years, women have been making great strides towards gender equality. From the front lines of the military to the presidential ticket, women are staking equal claim to places where once only men ventured. Unfortunately, the glass ceiling seems to be a little thicker in corporate America. Despite holding 52 percent of all professional-level jobs, women represent a shameful 14.6 percent of executive officers, 8.1 percent of top earners, and a pitiful 4.6 percent of Fortune 500 CEOs.

According to a study conducted by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg's nonprofit LeanIn.Org and management consulting firm McKinsey, which surveyed 30,000 employees at more than 100 companies, women’s difficulty in achieving equal representation at work is not for lack of trying. Even though we’re just as skilled and committed as our male coworkers, women are only 85% as likely to move up the corporate ladder. And while 75 percent percent of organizations claim that diversity is a top priority, the majority of women and men polled in the study don’t believe that to be true. It’s been almost a century since women earned the right to vote, and at this rate, it'll take us another 100 years before we earn our right to the C-Suite. So the question remains: How can we achieve equal representation in senior-level positions in our lifetime?

To gain insight, NTRSCTN interviewed Gigi Stetler, CEO of the Florida-based company RV Sales of Broward, author of Unstoppable: Surviving is Just the Beginning, and boss-lady extraordinaire. Here’s what she had to say.
