Earlier this week we learned of two victims who were fatally shot during an OVO fest after party in Toronto on Monday night. The two victims have now been identified as 26-year-old Arelia Navarro-Fenoy and 23-year-old Duvel Hibbert.

Navarro-Fenoy's best friend and roommate, Franca Abate, was with her the night she was killed, telling the Toronto Star that her friend's death could have been avoided if they were not rejected by a Toronto taxi driver.

"Had we gotten in a cab, this wouldn't have happened," she said in the interview. "We could have gotten home safely."

The original plan that night for the ladies was to head to the parking lot of the club, Muzik, where Drake's OVO after party was being held. They were to meet a friend there and get a ride home. However, once gun shots erupted in the background, their initial reaction was to get to safety by attempting to flee the area in a cab.

Abate explains that they tried to escape in a cab but were rejected because of how short the distance and how little the fare would be.

"They all refused us," she said. "They said it was only an $8 fare." According to Abate, the cab drivers were not aware of the potential danger that was coming their way.

Reportedly, the second victim in the shooting, Hibbert, was the intended target by the shooters who police claim might have received retaliation from ongoing turmoil beyond the night of the event.

Toronto Police have released two individuals of interest from Tuesday morning's shooting and are urging the Toronto public to come forward with any information.
