Converse ANZ have brought together 10 emerging creatives from the Converse All Stars community, providing them with the unique opportunity to design and sell their own merchandise.
The line includes merchandise from musicians Boysoda, Pania, DJ Talisha and DJ Tinika—all of whom collaborated with graphic designers Bianca Casarotto, DOCG and Tori Talaina respectively, as well as photographers Fern Arisara, Justin Wiriadi and Monica Monteleone.
Each All Star musician was paired with one of the talented designers, who worked with them to bring to life an original design that best captured their musical style.
The All Star photographers then worked with the artists to conceptualise and execute a photo shoot of the merchandise.
Singer and Songwriter Pania says, “It was awesome to be a part of this, learn more about how merchandise production works, and work with other creatives as a team to come up with something that really reflects my passion.”
The artists were mentored by Sydney and Melbourne merchandise and design juggernauts Gaetano “Tino” La Luca and Beci Orpin, who helped guide the various teams on the creative process.
The purpose of the initiative was to educate artists on how to create their own original merch lines, and on the ways in which they can diversify their income streams to aid their music careers.
To further support the creatives careers of its All Stars, the brand covered all production costs for the music merch and shared back all profits with the artists involved.
Of the experience, Beci Orpin says, “Collaboration is one of the most important aspects in creative fields, and it’s been amazing to be part of the process and help guide the Converse All Stars in reaching and realising their full potential.”
