Microsoft has announced a new documentary about the legendary burial of the Atari 2600 E.T. video game that will be available exclusive to Xbox One and Xbox 360 in 2014.

The new documentary will be the first in a series on video games. This documentary will be an investigation on how Atari was forced to bury millions of unsold E.T. cartridges in a small town in New Mexico after the game was universally panned by critics and basically unplayable.

"These stories will expose how the digital revolution created a global democracy of information, entertainment and commerce, and how it impacts our lives every day." Said Nancy Tellem, the head of Xbox Studios.

During the Xbox One's reveal earlier this year, Microsoft said it would have original content available for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Although the only programs announced thus far are a Halo show produced by epic Hollywood director Steven Spielberg, as well as the upcoming Quantum Break show that is a tie-in to the Xbox One game. Also reported is a World-Cup-themed soccer show called Every Street United.

Shooting for the E.T. Documentary being shooting in January and will air globally on Xbox One and Xbox 360 in 2014.
