Sony's PS Vita TV: A Microconsole With Muscle (Video)

Sony has revealed its new PlayStation Vita TV. A new smartphone-sized device which allows users to play PS Vita games and media on their televisions.

The system uses the Vita chip sets and system software to allow user to play over 1,300 Vita, PSP and PSOne games on their TV using a DualShock 3 controller. Since the controllers are not equipped with a touch screen, camera or motion sensors not all Vita titles will be playable on the PS Vita TV.

The Vita's entertainment sections including movies and eBooks that will also be viewable on TV. The device will also enable PlayStation 4 owners to remote play PS4 games on a second TV using their DualShock 4 controllers. Vita TV will launch in Japan on November 14, priced around $95 with a worldwide release to be announced later.

The streaming ability allows for gamers who already own a PlayStation 4 to effectively have two. We have to give some love to Sony for developing a microconsole that’s practical and easy to use.
