Nintendo and Pokemon's Direct Presentation Wrap-Up (Video)

During this mornings Pokemon Direct broadcast new details of the upcoming title Pokemon X & Y were revealed. X & Y will feature a cloud based "Pokemon Bank" service that will cost $5 per year and will give players 3000 additional Pokemon saving slots. The bank will also have "advanced search functionality" to browse though abilities in your massive save database. Using the bank and the eShop app "Poke Transporter" players will be able to transfer their Pokemon from Black, Black 2, White and White 2.

Pokemon and Nintendo will also release two special edition 3DSs for the west, which will launch in North America and Europe on September 27. The handhelds feature red and blue bodies with black and white designs of Pokemon X & Y's new legendary Pokemon, Xerneas and Yveltal. A special edition 3DS will cost $199.

Another difference in the upcoming X & Y is that your friend, or opponent will choose your original three starters instead of the Professor giving you a choice between three Pokemon at the beginning. Pokemon X & Y drops in North America on October 12.

This continues Nintendo and Pokemon's direct series that takes the boring PR world of video game journalism and plants its wide-body right in your living room. The only things I miss about these press conferences are the sandwiches.
