LucasArts dies, Battlefront III lives; thanks to Disney.

After Disney acquired Lucasfilms and LucasArts last year they wasted little time in shuttering the legendary LucasArts Division.

"After evaluating our position in the games market, we've decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company's risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games," Disney released in a press statement. "As a result of this change, we've had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles."

LucasArts put out some great titles like The Secret of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango and more recently published the Battlefront series by licensing out rights to their library. While LucasArts is no more, it was announced at E3 that Dice, the much-loved Battlefield developer, will be making a Battlefront sequel.
