7. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (2012)
Maybe some think that Activision's flagship franchise is spinning its wheels a bit these days; re-hashing a tried and true formula to build a Babel Tower of dollar bills to the International Space Station. But it's impossible to argue with the unrivaled popularity of the series. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 day-one shipments were the largest for any game ever. Moving 7.5 million copies on launch day and grossing over $500 million, in the US alone, in its first 24 hours, made it the biggest entertainment launch of all time. Bigger than both Star-Wars and Avatar opening weekends. The gameplay is what you'd expect, adding the build-a-clas specialization to make it feel like it's not a complete copy of earlier entries. It's the gaming equivalnet to meth. You either really, really love it and need just a tiny bit more, or avoid it all costs and sneer down at those that have lost their teeth to it.
