At the height of the FPS era, Irrational Games along with 2K Games tossed a curve and dropped the retro-inspired survival title, BioShock. Set in the underwater city of Rapture, BioShock put you under the attack of genetically mutated dope fiends in search of the truth about your own geaneolgy. Hailed for its beautifully detailed and interactive environment, BioShock quickly garnered a dedicated fan base. The game also helped to drive the steampunk culture where people role play in a technologically advanced, 40s inspired world. As imaginative as the concept of Rapture was, 2K Games announced the upcoming BioShock Infinite in 2010 which instead of an underwater adventure, players are put in a city in the sky.
