Telltale Will Make a Second "Season" of "The Walking Dead"

Developer Telltale Games announced that they plan to make another set of episodic adventures set in the universe of The Walking Dead. The success of the downloadable series' first two episodes has been more than enough to merit a sequel and on-disc release for the full game once all five episodes have been released.

"We believe there is no better company than Telltale to bring complex narrative IP to interactive entertainment," senior vice president of marketing Steve Allison told Polygon. "Our first episodic game series based on The Walking Dead has sold nearly 1.7 million episodes to consumers in just our first 8 weeks with no signs of slowing down."

"Following the digital release of our fifth episode we will also be coming to North American retail shortly thereafter and this will not be the last The Walking Dead game series that we do."

Telltale's Walking Dead sequel will be separate from the recently announced Walking Dead first-person shooter being developed by Terminal Reality and Activision. The shooter is based on AMC's TV adaptation, whereas the Telltale series is an original story told in parallel to the events of the comic series.

Allison remarked that the Telltale team isn't worried about another team making games based on the Walking Dead license: "Regarding today's announcement of a project based [on] the AMC TV series coming in 2013," he said. "As huge fans of the franchise and the show, we're looking forward to seeing Terminal Reality's game when it comes out."

The Walking Dead: Episode 3 comes to PSN, XBLA and PC this August.
