Valve Could Record Cave Johnson Voiceovers for User-Made "Portal 2" Levels

Portal 2's level creation DLC, the "Perpetual Testing Initiative", goes live today on Steam, and it's totally free. So would-be Aperture scientists can get cracking on designing new tests and sharing them with the rest of the Portal 2 community.

In an interesting twist, a letter from Cave Johnson to all his Aperture employees (that's us) hints that Valve might be planning to have J.K. Simmons, Johnson's voice actor, record dialogue for choice user-generated levels.

"I'll be right there with you," the letter reads. "Every step of the way, whether the tests work or not, Cave'll be by your side, facing whatever life-threatening dangers we might run into out there. And even better, I won't actually physically be there. I'll be here, talking into a microphone, from complete and total safety. That way the people who'll be monitoring whether you're still alive won't have to split their focus worrying about me."

That almost makes it seem like he cares whether we stay alive. I suppose that's easier than training new testers though, eh?

Grab the DLC on Steam today and let us know what you think in the comments or on Twitter.
