"Sons of Anarchy" Game is in the Works, Coming to Consoles

Sons of Anarchy fans, your prayers have been answered. Series creator Kurt Sutter announced on Twitter this week that a console-based Sons of Anarchy game is in the works.

"[Sons of Anarchy] game update. Had a great meeting with a big distributor yesterday. Myself and everyone at FX and Fox is committed to making this happen," Sutter tweeted.

A game based on the SoA franchise has been in development for some time now. Until Sutter's tweets signalled the change, the game was being designed for browsers. Based on another of Sutter's tweets, the creator was clearly unhappy with the earlier version:

"Yes, we definitely wanna do a real game. Console based. Not some slapcrap browser MP thing. It'll take awhile, but it's the right way to go."

As he says, Sutter's preferred realization of the Sons of Anarchy in video game form will likely be a long ways off. For all we know, the developer will have to start from square one, and with next-gen consoles around the corner, it's hard to say what platforms the game will land on.

One thing we do know, however, is that the SoA game will not look or play like TellTale's  adaptation of The Walking Dead. Sutter said that he felt the game was "rushed and a bit unsatisfactory". Clearly the creator has a very specific vision for how his series will transition to the medium: It'll be interesting to see what exactly he has in mind.
