Epic Games Bailed on "Bulletstorm 2"

A sequel to the surprise hit shooter Bulletstorm had been in the early stages of development by developer People Can Fly, but the project was scrapped in favor of the studio's currently unannounced project, says Epic Games president Mike Capps.

Speaking with Gamespot, Capps explained that Epic was excited about making another Bulletstorm, but that the new project was a better fit for the studio.

"We thought a lot about a sequel, and had done some initial development on it, but we found a project that we thought was a better fit for People Can Fly," said Capps. "We haven't announced that yet, but we will be announcing it pretty soon."

Capps added that the decision to stop production on the project for the moment doesn't mean that they won't ever go back to the Bulletstorm universe: "I think there's more to do with Bulletstorm. Heck, it kind of ended wanting more. I'd love to see another project, but right now we don't have anything to talk about."

Before you get too excited, Capps also mentioned that, despite the game's critical success, the game didn't sell as well as EA expected. Specifically, he said that piracy of the PC version of the game put a serious damper on the game's sales numbers.

The bottom line: Don't pirate games if you're hoping to see a sequel.
