PS Vita Getting GPS Map App, Video Recording and OSX Support This Week

Andriasang's got a report on the latest firmware update for Japanese PS Vita owners, version 1.6, coming Feb. 8. It'll add a GPS map app (complete with walking and driving directions), video capture capabilities (it could only take photos previously), and a flashing blue light when the system's charging. In addition to the firmware update, Sony will release the Mac OSX version of its Content Management Assistant program for transferring data between the system and your PC.

The update comes on the same day that Sony's changing PlayStation Network accounts to Sony Entertainment Accounts, a cosmetic adjustment that'll reflect worldwide on PS3 as well as Vita.

What other features would you like to see added to the Vita? Do you think the US and other regions will have GPS and video capture at launch, or will we have to wait two months for an update as well? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.

I'd like there to be a decent FPS game at launch.... BUT, I know it's not happening. I will be getting my Vita on the 15th.
