When CVG wrote about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 as part of their list of games they're looking forward to in 2012, they were merely speculating, as the sequel hasn't actually been announced yet. The only hint we've gotten to its existence is a tidbit dropped by a composer working on the game—until now, that is.
David Cox, a producer at Konami, took notice of CVG's anticipation and tweeted a link to the article, followed by "Tweeted without comment :)". We're guessing he's trying to tell us something.
Are you a Castlevania fan? What'd you think of Lords of Shadow? What do you want to see in a sequel? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.

I've been a fan of the series since the first game on the NES, to this day it remains my favorite video game series. I think Lords of Shadow was a step in the right direction as far as bringing the franchise into the next-gen console 3D arena. Previous 3D Castlevania games lacked certain elements to make the series relevant again, but I think Lords of Shadow was an excellent re-launch that honored the 8 and 16-bit era Castlevania platforming games and has accomplished bringing the series back into the spotlight. Though it was mildly successful, I still believe it was one of the most slept on games of 2010. It has it's flaws, but overall the game was brilliant, especially with the visuals! The surprise ending of Lords of Shadows left many fans, myself included, very much looking forward to the sequel. There's still some hardcore Metroidvania fans that dislike the new direction & the idea that Lords of Shadow story is non-canon to the one Iga created, but I think it's a fresh start, and I believe the series needed some change. I hope Konami continues making 2D Castlevania games as well, but as far as a Lords of Shadows sequel is concerned, I say "bring it on"! The one thing I ask the developers of Lords of Shadows 2 is continue bringing in the old elements of the NES and SNES games, also include characters from the original canon into the new Castlevania universe (similar to how they used Cornell in LOS). I'd love to see Simon Belmont as the main protagonist in a sequel, or at the very least have Simon in a cameo!

Glad to hear from an oldschool 'vania fan who actually liked LoS!

We're out there brother. I feel like alot of the negative criticism that Lords of Shadow received was primarily from the "Metroidvania" fans, fans of the 2D open exploration games that Koji Igarashi had created. Not that I don't enjoy those Castlevania games, but I've always been a fan of the earlier level by level platformer "Classicvania" games (the original Castlevania on the NES & Super Castlevania 4 for the SNES being personal favorites). I think Lords of Shadow was a great attempt at bringing the feel of the original games into modern gaming. Honestly, I'm psyched for the LoS sequel!

I also am an oldschool Castlevania fan - playing the NES games when they first came out. I haven't been a fan of the 'Metroidvania' anime games that have been released for a variety of reasons (boring gameplay, lame stories). I LOVED LoS, although I hope the next game continues the tale in the same timeline, rather than jumps ahead to the future. Castlevania 200X seems really dumb to me.

I've been a fan of Castlevania since the NES days as well. I loved LOI, didn't get much into the second CV game for ps2 but absolutely LOVBED LOI. I saw the youtube vids for LOS and specifically bought an Xbox 360 just so i could have the honor to play a brand new CV game. I'm still in the early part trying to beat the bog troll, still learning buttons as its a new sysem. I would LOVE to see another castlevania game on the x360 LOS pt 2 or not just as long as there's a lineup of CV games for xbox. thanks to the developers for bringin LOS out its an AWESOME GAME

The person i would love to see back is alucard!!! Also i know this would be hard with the rail system which really worked in LOS but if it went back to the castle with the old school bosses like Dracula, Death and sheath that would be amazing

I have had this game for over a year and only recently really started playing it. Tonight I beat it. I liked the game very much and the first time I ever played a Castlevania was when the NES came out with it way back in the day. I loved that game too. I do wish that there was more of a tie in with some of the original music from the NES on LOS. There are some but not many. Personally, my favorite music is from the 1st board of the original Casltevania. LOS, however, was a great game and was very long. I was really suprised with the ending and I honestly dont think they did a good job explaining how he became a vampire in the end and how Zobek is alive again after he was killed by Satan. There is a bunch of confusion by the end. Nonetheless, I hope that they continue making the games b/c they are a favorite of mine and I truly enjoy playing them.

There's DLC on PSN/XBLA that will get more into how gabriel became a vampire and all that, but i don't think they get into how zobek is till alive.

I'm a hardcore fan of the Castlevania series, besides the ones they made for the n64,and i loved curse of darkness and how they improved from lament of innocence when i had my ps2. when i got my ps3 for xmas i put LOS on my list, because I'm a fan of course, and i didn't have it when i had my 360 i beat it last night due to the puzzles and satan's cheap attacks(on hard mode) but i really lovedthe game and how they approached using a new villain, not saying killing Dracula every century is bad, but the ds ones kinda made it go a bit stale with the belmonts dying off or going into the darkness i can't really remember which it was, but when it's all said and done I'm really looking forward to a sequel as long as it has a catchy title LOS 2 doesn't seem to look right going through my mind box art wise, but i would still get the game.
