It seems like every year the entire racing genre is hit with a singular wave of inspiration, resulting in a bunch of similarly themed driving games competing for top pole position. Last year we saw the theme of destruction play a big part in Split/Second and Blur. This year it seems that along with Driver: San Francisco, Need for Speed: The Run is tapping into 70’s era kitsch.

Need for Speed: The Run breaks convention and brings the most story-focused game in the series with a cross country race and $25 million on the line. Read on to discover whether this is a road trip worth taking.
