Clark Kent:

This is your boy, Brooklyn's finest New York Giant, God's favorite DJ, Clark Kent.

Russ Bangsten:

And I'm Russ Bankson. This is Quickstrike.

Clark Kent:

Now, usually, in every episode we talk about the shoes we like, the shoes we love, the shoes we want to get, and the shoes we're definitely going to get.

Russ Bangsten:

So while we and hopefully you wait for season two to kick off, we decided to make our own shoes, sort of.

Clark Kent:

I'm here 21 Mersa to meet my man, my cohost, my friend, my homey, Russ Bankston-

Russ Bangsten:

DJ Clark Kent, whose nicknames I would recite, but I don't remember them all, a pair of Bespokes, which are one of ones.

Clark Kent:

Which means, he'll have them. You won't have them. And sadly to say, I won't have them. So we're in the Bespoke room at the back of 21 Mersa. This is where it all goes down. This is where the process actually happens. This is my design consultant, Mao.

Mao:

Welcome back, Clark.

Clark Kent:

It's good to be here, man.

Mao:

So, you already know it's a 150 colors of materials you can choose from.

Clark Kent:

Absolutely.

Mao:

And we're going into our fifth year. Which is extra special.

Clark Kent:

Yes, so maybe I'll make an extra special pair. You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to do something different. It's the newest option. I'm going to do a Lunar. Plus, it's lighter. I think Russell will have more comfort with it. I think it'll work out better for him.

Mao:

Perfect. Just with the Lunar, you got to keep in mind that anything from the tip, the quarters, foxing, has to be leather or patent leather.

Clark Kent:

Okay, got it.

Mao:

Anything else, it could be any of the textiles or suedes or

Clark Kent:

So one, two, three. These pieces have to be leather.

Mao:

So anything that's connected to- And the best part about the Lunar is that the outsole itself, it could be mix and max, any color that you want.

Clark Kent:

Got it. So, I'm going to get it together and make something for my boy, Russ. Hopefully he likes it.

Russ Bangsten:

With Clark, it's like, what do you get for the man who has everything? He's already done, I don't know how many Bespokes, but I know from what I've seen, a lot of them have been fairly outthere combinations or pretty loud combinations, so you know, I kind of thought, bring it back, tone it down a little bit. I know the white on white is his favorite. I'm not going to do a white on white, though. If that was the case, we could be out of here in five minutes. But seeing that he did a lot of his early work on Reasonable Doubt, I was thinking maybe that and at the same time maybe bring in a few of the elements of the shoes he's designed before, and finish it all off with the gum bottom. Hopefully.

Mao:

Without a doubt.

Russ Bangsten:

So that's I mean, that's sort of where I'm coming from.

Clark Kent:

Here's the deal. I got some facts on my boy, Russ. He's a Bulls fan because of Michael Jordan, and he went to Smithtown East High School. The crazy part about that is his team is called the Bulls and they have the same colors as the Chicago Bulls. So I'm thinking that might be easy. I want to do something that's going to come out really, really nice for him, because Russ is a sneaker guru.

Russ Bangsten:

So for starters we've managed to narrow this to blacks and grays. You know, I wanted to work with the Reasonable Doubt album and the cover, which I hate to use the word iconic, but it is, shot by Jonathan Mannion, black and white, JayZ fedora, scarf, smoking a cigar, just a very iconic hiphop image and it's an album that Clark is still very well known for having produced several tracks on it including Brooklyn's Finest, which could very well be his theme song. Given that few guys have watched more than one episode, you understand how he represents Brooklyn.

Clark Kent:

So I think I got it figured out. It's going to be special. Hopefully he likes it. Thank you, brother.

Mao:

No problem.

Russ Bangsten:

Okay, so we've pretty much reached the end of the process here. You know, we've got something together. We've managed to narrow down the nine trillion approximate choices to something to make up a shoe. Clark, hopefully, A. You appreciate this and, B. Hopefully you don't have this exact pair yet. Mathematically, it seems like a fairly small chance, but I'll always worry about it. See you on the set the new set, hopefully not too long and, you know, I hope you enjoy.
