DJ Clark Kent:

It's your boy DJ Clark

Kent and my man... Russ Bengtson:

Russ

Bengston. DJ Clark Kent:

You're watching

Quickstrike:

The hiatus episode. Russ

Bengtson:

You know what? Let's bring on a

guest. DJ Clark Kent:

Why not? Let's go.

Russ Bengtson:

Alright so I guess we don't really need to introduce people here. I mean Mr. Dikembe Mutombo. Dikembe

Mutombo:

Mpolondo Mukamba Dikembe

Jean-Jacques Wamutombo. Russ Bengtson:

I never remember your full name! Dikembe

Mutombo:

It's only 9 names. You can

remember them. DJ Clark Kent:

Do you remember how we met the first time?

Dikembe Mutombo:

Yes, I think um, that was like a year after the Dikembe Mutombo shoes came out. Like in '92-93. DJ Clark

Kent:

What did we do with you? Dikembe

Mutombo:

That was crazy as usual. They brought me on the stage and uh, tried to let the world know who I was and uh, a big

fan I was of the music. DJ Clark Kent:

He was a big fan of the Notorious B.I.G. and we were down in Denver doin' the show and we brought this guy, the guy out o stage and it was crazy. And he had an amazing

time. Dikembe Mutombo:

Even though I didn't live in Brooklyn but I know

Brooklyn stand up! DJ Clark Kent:

I got that right? I got that part? I need the audio for that. That's going on my next mix tape. That's solid. Yes, and it was great to have you and I'm glad to have you back and I guess we should just get right

to the kicks. Right? Russ Bengtson:

Let's

talk about the kicks! DJ Clark Kent:

Do

it. Russ Bengtson:

It's come full circle. I mean, you know, What can you tell us about how that all started? When you got this signature shoe back in '93. Dikembe

Mutombo:

Oh, it was a dream come true. You know, for a young man who came from Africa, came from nothing. Having a great, amazing career in college; someday you made it to the pro and you have your shoes, your own shoes named after you. Especially by a major corporation like Adidas. That was a big thrill for me. DJ

Clark Kent:

Do you have any of your original Mutombo shoes? Dikembe Mutombo: Of course. Who would not after... to see one of the great memory. Own your own shoes. The original one. And I have a few of them at home and I keep them in my

closet. DJ Clark Kent:

Nice. Dikembe

Mutombo:

I show them to my kids but I like to keep them to myself. Russ Bengtson: They take up a lot of space. You're a size

22? Dikembe Mutombo:

Only size 22! Russ Bengtson: Oh I see it. DJ Clark Kent: Oh I

see. Only 22. Dikembe Mutombo:

Only 22.

Russ Bengtson:

Was Shaq like a 23? Was he a little, same size? Something like that?

Dikembe Mutombo:

He's a 22 wide and I'm a

22 narrow. Russ Bengtson:

Oh okay. Dikembe

Mutombo:

But it's not the shoe size, but

who can go up. Russ Bengtson:

True! It had to be tough for you to get shoes when you

were first comin' up. Dikembe Mutombo:

Oh it was very difficult. Very difficult growing up. Period. Even when I was in high school there were a few times I missed school because I didn't have no shoes to wear. It was very, very difficult. Today when I'm here celebrating and working with Adidas and having my own brand of shoes with my name is a dream

come true. DJ Clark Kent:

Do you remember your first pair of sneakers? Dikembe

Mutombo:

Yes. When I come to the league it was Adidas. And when I was young it was

Adidas. DJ Clark Kent:

Really? Dikembe

Mutombo:

Because Adidas is very big in

Africa. DJ Clark Kent:

Right, right,

right. Dikembe Mutombo:

It's very big.

Russ Bengtson:

We're very happy the shoe's back. We're very happy that you're still involved. Still being able to do this.

Dikembe Mutombo:

Thank you, thank you. I'm just happy to be here hangin' out with you

guys today. Russ Bengtson:

Hey, hey.

Dikembe Mutombo:

And promoting the Mutombo shoes that's coming up on August 24. DJ

Clark Kent:

Bengtson:

It's better that you... Dikembe

Mutombo:

grab your shoes. Russ Bengtson:

And there's more coming too! There's more colors, more like, I mean... Dikembe

Mutombo:

They gonna be out there. DJ Clark

Kent:

Wait, wait, wait. I personally believe that may have been the very best like, I'm gonna slide my promo in right now that we've had from any guest. Russ

Bengtson:

I agree, I agree! Dikembe

Mutombo:

You gotta learn how to sell

yourself. Russ Bengtson:

I agree. DJ Clark

Kent:

You're amazing. Dikembe Mutombo: Hey, if you're going to be a good marketing guy you have to sell your

product. DJ Clark Kent:

You sell your product, I'm not mad. Would you like another moment to tell them again? Dikembe

Mutombo:

Oh yes. Here this is. August 24.

Russ Bengtson:

You can't see me anymore.

Dikembe Mutombo:

Or go to the Adidas.com. You can grab this Mutombo shoes. My Mutombo, just the Mutombo shoes, my
