Combat Jack:

Tell us about working with Tupac. How was that, man?

Scarface:

Like I always tell people, man, Tupac was a...man, you had to be through in the studio with Tupac in like, 30 minutes because he was going to be ready to go.

Combat Jack:

Mm.

Scarface:

You know then, you had to be ready to go when he was ready to go.

Combat Jack:

Mm.

Scarface:

Or you fucking bullshitting.

Combat Jack:

Right.

Scarface:

I remember one night. I was writing at the board, man, and 'Pac came in, man and he was like, "You ready?" "Man, I gotta finish this shit, man, I gotta get a single". And he just like, blew up like, "Man you sit in here all fucking day, all fucking night, trying to get a fucking single. You not going to get no single! You not going to get no single! You not going to get no single! Just write that shit! Just keep writing it. Just write it." That was 'Pac.

Combat Jack:

Like it was so easy to him.

Scarface:

But nah, it was like he was, he told me that me wasting all my fucking time trying to write the single, just make the record. And the records will be the single. You know what I mean? He told me, he said that, "Man, you got to get across to these bitches without offending them." That's his words.

Combat Jack:

Get across to these bitches without offending them.

Scarface:

Without offending them. And the niggers going to want what the bitches want.

Combat Jack:

Mm...[SS]...

Scarface:

That's why he had so many great records.

Combat Jack:

Right. Now, now, how'd you...

Scarface:

Get across to the ladies without offending them.

Combat Jack:

How'd you feel at the time when they was going through that whole East Coast, West Coast thing?

Scarface:

I mean, I didn't look at it like that.

Combat Jack:

Right.

Scarface:

I thought it was...

Combat Jack:

Two camps?

Scarface:

No. I thought it was good for hip hop. Until shit got...

Combat Jack:

Shit got real, right.

Scarface:

...out of hand. Because if you look at the LL - Kool Moe Dee bees [sounds like]

Combat Jack:

Combat Jack:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Scarface:

I don't know.

Combat Jack:

So, where were you man, when you got the news?

Scarface:

On my way back to Houston.

Combat Jack:

That Tupac passed.

Scarface:

No, I'm lying. I was on a bus on my way back to Houston, when I heard he got shot. Man, let me tell you something, man. When 'Pac got shot at the Quad Studios, I was right there in the Doubletree.

Combat Jack:

Oh, word. Across the street.

Scarface:

The Doubletree, yeah.

Combat Jack:

Yeah.

Scarface:

And I know that I would have been down there.

Combat Jack:

Right.

Scarface:

You know what I'm saying? I would have been there.

Combat Jack:

Right.

Scarface:

And it would have been a totally different scenario. 'Cause we was going to die in them motherf***ers.

Combat Jack:

Um-hmm.

Scarface:

You feel me?

Combat Jack:

Right, right right.

Scarface:

Right. It's like that.

Combat Jack:

Right. Like you and him was that tight.

Scarface:

Like, you not going to fuck with him.

Combat Jack:

Right. Without fucking with me.

Scarface:

You not going to fuck with me.

Combat Jack:

Right.

Scarface:

You know, that shit probably wouldn't have even happened. You know. I think it's a lot of shit that go on. That I always say, "Man, I could have saved that boy if I was with him."

Combat Jack:

Mm.

Scarface:

I could have saved that headache. You know that's with everybody...

Combat Jack:

Right, of course.

Scarface:

With a whole lot of shit that a lot of people go through. Man, I can save you from that shit. You know if Mike Tyson was my homeboy back then, I could have saved him from that shit.

Combat Jack:

That bullshit, damn.

Scarface:

Yeah.

Combat Jack:

Starting with, Robin Givens?

Scarface:

All of that shit, I could have saved him from that bulls***. I love Robin Givens.

Combat Jack:

Scarface:

You know what Mike needed? Ah, shit, this is bad.

Combat Jack:
