It's good to be seen.

Combat Jack:

How you feeling man?

Gunplay:

I'm good. I'm blessed, blessed beyond belief, matter of fact. I just had to run that miracle mile last year, and everything is blessed.

Combat Jack:

No braces on the ankle?

Gunplay:

No, no, no. No ankle device.

Combat Jack:

You got your ankles free. You got the sock game tight right now.

Gunplay:

Yeah, you know, throwback bows. I mean . . .

Dallas Penn:

No-shows, too. Yeah.

Combat Jack:

What changed about you from that experience, man?

Gunplay:

I'm smiling a little bit more, man. Shit ain't that serious, dog. If you're going through what you're going through, everybody go through shit, dog; it's just how you get through that shit. It's not that serious. If I'm not going to die about that shit or if I'm not going to go to jail about that shit, man, I am not sweating that shit. I don't [inaudible: 01:59] . . . whatever's going to happen, that it might be some fuck shit a nigga doing, some sideways bending shit a nigga doing. I don't sit there. You know what; I let that shit come back on your ass. I give a mother a fucker opportunity; that's what I do with everybody around me. I just let you hang your fucking self. That's the way I am. I got a big heart. I just like loyal shit. I'm a loyal nigga. I respect a nigga. I expect the same shit back.

Combat Jack:

Right.

Gunplay:

That's how I've been raised. That's how me and Ross is. That's all I know. Just loyal shit, and then when you come with these sideways, nude ass, new niggas.

Combat Jack:

No new friend.

Gunplay:

You got a hot record, niggas coming round, they want to, "Thirsty, my nigga?" Be like, "Nigga, I know how to mother fucking hold a cup nigga. What's up, nigga?" "No. I'm just making sure you're straight, man."

Combat Jack:

Basically, you got to watch out for them extra- helpful cats.

Gunplay:

Yeah, you got all that fake love and shit and all that. You want to get in the club. "My nigga, I kill for you my nigga, boy."

Combat Jack:

What's your name again?

Gunplay:

Man, it's nothing, dog. Don't nobody be there, dog. It just be your mother fucking dirty ass in that dirty ass mother fucking cell by your mother fucking self, and don't nobody give a fuck, man.

Combat Jack:

Right.

Gunplay:

They going to say, "Free so-and-so, nigga," and get a t- shirt on your ass, boy.

Combat Jack:

And make money, right?

Gunplay:

Make money on that shit.

Dallas Penn:

And not break you off . . . Gunplay: Hell no.

Dallas Penn:

. . . for none of them t-shirts.

Gunplay:

Go buy your kid some Pampers and be like, "Boy, yeah. I looked out. I slid through there. I shot your people some Pampers. You feel me?" Fuck ass nigga, get yo . . .

Premium Pete:

The good thing, Combat, is when you go to jail . . .

Gunplay:

I work.

Premium Pete:

. . . you realize who your friends are.

Gunplay:

Yeah.

Premium Pete:

You got to stay home and play video games, and possibly watch pronos.

Gunplay:

Right. Possibly? Shit. Proud porn perv, get it right. You feeling me? Born porn. No, I'm fooling.

Dallas Penn:

Triple X or quadruple X. 5X, did you have a 5X?

Gunplay:

I stick to the triple, yo.

Dallas Penn:

5X is every possible body fluid. Complex TV.

Combat Jack:

Yo Gunplay, let me ask you, though. Man, something . . .

Gunplay:

Yeah?

Combat Jack:

When you was on house arrest, man, did anything happen in the real world outside that you wish you could have been there to do something different?

Gunplay:

That MMG tour. Yeah, I wish I would have been on that MMG tour, but it's all good. Everybody . . . another thing with nature and the forces that is, is timing. It's their time. It's time for them to be on tour. It's time for them to be on TV. It's their time for . . . some people who don't understand that. They hate. They come up to me and, "Damn Gunplay, why you . . ."

Dallas Penn:

You should be out there.

Gunplay:

Yeah, all that.

Combat Jack:

Look at them.

Gunplay:

Then that's, automatically, you just showed me where your mind at. Now I could go ahead on and put a flag on you and I know what you are.

Combat Jack:

They don't even know it.

Gunplay:

They don't even know it.

Dallas Penn:

Right.

Gunplay:

It's like that.

Combat Jack:

Did you like the industry, man? You like being in the industry, because technically, you're a professional in this industry? You come from one extreme, now you're in an industry where people lie, people all fake, people don't really follow-up with their words. They give you that fake handshake or they give you that point, "My dude," and they keep it moving. How do you gel in this game right now? How do you not smack somebody in this game, B?

Gunplay:

I could adapt. At the end of the day, it's, again, it's nothing. We're not sending . . . we're not in here doing a big dope deal, are we?

Combat Jack:

No.

Gunplay:

When I go outside, hopefully, I don't got nobody gunning for me during for an interview.

Combat Jack:

No, nobody shooting for you out here.

Gunplay:

It's nothing that can harm me. It's nothing . . . you just got to deal what you've got to deal with. You got to know how to deal with them accordingly? That you put them in that spot and when it's time to pick them up and put them in their spot, you put them in that spot. Then today, then you're going to have to probably throw a little shade so he can just feel a certain way, and then you make enemies to make friends.

Combat Jack:

You play chess.

Gunplay:

Yeah. I'm real good, and I read '48 Laws of Power' and 'Shadow Box'.

Combat Jack:

What? He said '48 Laws of Power'.

Gunplay:

Shadowboxing and shit. Every time you're in a situation and you say, "You know what; this is law 38 that I need to go ahead and do in this situations."

Combat Jack:

Devout Shaolin master.

Gunplay:

That's Law Number 1. Once you go by that . . .

Combat Jack:

Create spectacles.

Gunplay:

Create spectacles, create an air of unpredictability. 'Pow', like that. Mother fucking shit like that. Crazy shit.

Dallas Penn:

This nigga's crazy.

Gunplay:

No, but that's what it is.

Combat Jack:

That's what it is.

Gunplay:

You've got to keep a mother fucker on their toes. You don't ever let a mother fucker get comfortable. I ain't going to give all the secrets, dog. Go get the book.

Combat Jack:

One of the most interesting things, and I think it was really entertaining while you wasn't trying to be entertaining . . .I got to go back because, people want to know that whole situation with 50. For real, man. When I watched your video, man, it was so obvious you gave no fucks, B. You just ran up into the enemy camp and was just trying to swing. Take us through that moment, man.

Gunplay:

You never get a chance to see him, so I just took the opportunity. I don't care.

Combat Jack:

That moment opened up.

Gunplay:

Yeah, I got a window.

Combat Jack:

That moment in the universe.

Gunplay:

That's it. That's all that matters, and at the end of the day . . .

Combat Jack:

Any fucks about your chain, though?

Gunplay:

I'm fighting.

Combat Jack:

Yes.

Gunplay:

Nobody took nothing from me, ever. Not one nigga never took nothing from me. I felt the mother fucker, like, "I'm fighting nigga." Fucking pop, fell on the floor. Fuck, what am I going to do? Say "Yo, hold up. All right. Come on." Get the fuck out of here, man.

Combat Jack:

And you swung first, so . . .

Gunplay:

I don't . . . nobody . . . I've never been robbed in my fucking life, nigga. Nobody ever took nothing from me, bro, with me knowing, with me right here. No, it's not . . . it's impossible. It's physically fucking impossible. It was not going to happen.

Combat Jack:

Don't steal from this man right here.

Gunplay:

It's not going to happen. You're not going to take nothing from me. That was just a . . . that shit got lost. I lost that shit and a nigga picked it up. Probably they want to rep; why wouldn't you? That's the past. I don't even like bringing that shit up or talking about it, but it's . . . y'all see what it is. He ain't saying nothing; I ain't saying nothing. I Tweeted him today, too.

Combat Jack:

Who'd you Tweet?

Gunplay:

You want to see?

Combat Jack:

Yeah. Who'd you Tweet?

Gunplay:

I Tweeted 50 Cent.

Combat Jack:

Really?

Gunplay:

I said, "Hey 50. Hey you, 50 Cent. Go download my mixtape, B." I ain't got no service, but if you go on my timeline @GunplayMMG. He didn't respond, but it was all good.

Combat Jack:

Of course not.

Gunplay:

He probably laughed when he seen that shit.

In the first part of our three part interview with Gunplay on The Combat Jack Show, Gunplay opens up about the armed robbery charges he faced last year, which would eventually be dropped as the 33-year-old rapper was put under house arrest for his actions. #complextv
