13. President Kennedy's Assistant Helped Kill Him

Compromised Page: John Seigenthaler Sr.
Year: 2005

Back when Wikipedia was still vying for mainstream approval, this story of "Internet character assassination" became the center of a big media storm surrounding the free encyclopedia. Seigenthaler, a former journalist who served as an administrative assistant to President John F. Kennedy, was appalled when he learned his Wikipedia page listed him as a possible suspect in the assassination of both President Kennedy and his brother, Bobby. Looking to get to the bottom of the error, Seigenthaler, reached out to Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales who in turn told him that he had no idea of knowing who really wrote the erroneous info in his Wikipedia entry.
