Rumor: Apple Developing Low-Priced iPhone

An often hard reality to face: Apple products are expensive. Despite the company's constant innovation and beautifully-crafted devices, the cost for a MacBook or an iPhone won't come cheap. But it seems that might be changing soon. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that "Apple is working on a lower-end iPhone, according to people briefed on the matter, a big shift in corporate strategy as its supremacy in smartphones has slipped."

To lower production costs, the device's shell could possibly be made of polycarbonate. "Many other parts," Jessica E. Lessin reports, "could remain the same or be recycled from older iPhone models."

And while Apple has never been known to cheapen its products, the move would position the company as the dominant force in the mobile game.
