Nearly Named: Apple iBrowse

To be fair, iBrowse was just a name engineers at Apple were using to describe the nascent browser. According to reports, even thought it would be silly to name Apple's browser iBrowse, even with all the success of the iLife software suite and the line of i-devices. The better story here is that Safari almost had a better name. According to former Apple engineer Don Melton, Steve Jobs contemplating calling the browser "Freedom" to represent Apple's freedom from Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
