Report: Google's Working on a Touchscreen Chromebook

After releasing two Chromebooks in two months, Google is working on another model with a touchscreen, according to a report from China.

The report comes from Chinese newspaper Commercial Times and says that Google has given contracts to Wintek and Compal Electronics to build touchscreens for new ultraportable notebooks that will work with an electronic stylus.

According to the Commercial Times, the new devices will start shipping in early 2013.

Google in October released a lightweight and thin Chromebook manufactured by Samsung with a 11.6-inch display for $249. A month later, it introduced another, slightly heftier Chromebook made by Acer with a 11.6-inch display, more ports, and a scant price tag of $199.
