Best Buy Will Match Online Prices, Including Amazon

In an effort to stop the bleeding of customers to online competitors like Amazon, Best Buy will extend its price matching policy to cover online retailers, according to a new report in the Wall Street Journal.

This holiday shopping season, if customers can show that an online retailer is offering a particular product on sale at a Best Buy for a lower price, Best Buy will honor that price in an effort to keep the customer in store and secure the sale. Increasingly, visitors to Best Buy (and other brick-and-mortar retailers) have been scoping out products in the store only to later purchase them for cheaper online, a process known as "showrooming."

Additionally, if a product is out of stock, Best Buy will ship it to a customer's address free of charge. The offline vs. online retail wars are about to get really interesting.
