Filtered photo sharing apps like Instagram are all the rage right now, but believe it or not, in the future you may come to regret obscuring your precious photographic memories behind a wall of fake sepia and blurred out edges. That's where a new app called Normalize comes in. Positioning itself counter to the filter frenzy au currant, Normalize promises to return filtered photos to a more natural state.
A filter isn't simply a layer added on top of a photo, and Normalize can't literally "remove" one from that exceedingly hip portrait you took of your grandparents. However it can restore many of the photo's natural properties using a complex set of algorithms that creator Joe Macirowski explains in a blog post.
Normalize is available for $0.99 in the App Store. Life after Instagram begins now.
