Facebook Sets Up New Service for Users to Report Phishing Scams

Facebook has taken great strides in ridding the social network from scams over the years. On Thursday it took another big step by setting up an email address, phish@fb.com, that users can contact to report phishing scams they may come across on the network.

Phising is an attempt to acquire personal details such as usernames, passwords, and financial info by impersonating an official service. Facebook said on its blog Thursday that the more people report phising scams, the more it "can investigate and request for browser blacklisting and site takedowns where appropriate."

"This new reporting channel will compliment internal systems we have in place to detect phishing sites attempting to steal Facebook user login information," said Facebook. "The internal systems notify our team, so we can gather information on the attack, take the phishing sites offline, and notify users."
