Two years ago today, Kevin Systrom, Mike Krieger, and their talented team of developers decided it was time to test out their new photo-sharing app called Codename. To do so, Systrom snapped the above pic at Chilako tacos in Todos Santos, Mexico and uploaded the photo to what would later become Instagram.
Instagram was officially launched to the public three months later in October, 2010. Since then the company has accrued 50 million users and one billion photos. And it's been acquired by Facebook for $1 billion. Who knows what the next two years hold.
