Virgin Atlantic to Allow Cell Phone Calls During Flights

Virgin Atlantic is one of our favorite airlines because it constantly proves to be one of the industry's most forward-thinking companies. But its latest move may be a little too forward. In a press release issued yesterday, Sir Richard Branson's airline announced that it will allow passengers flying from NYC to London (or London to NYC) on the Airbus A330-300 to make phone calls on their cell phones.

According to the press release, only six people will be able to speak on their cell phones at any given time, and there's a hefty fee to do so: $1.20 a minute. To further limit the number of people who'll be yapping away on your flight, the only wireless carriers supported by the new initiative are T-Mobile, Vodafone, and O2.

We just hope the planes have outlets at every seat.
