Facebook Responds To Subpoenas With Alarmingly Detailed Reports Of User Activity

Naturally, when law enforcement subpoenas Facebook for user activity of a suspected criminal, it’s expected for the social network to hand over user photos, wall posts, messages, and the like. However, as discovered by the Boston Phoenix during their reporting of the “Craigslist Killer,” the information Facebook provides is far more detailed than just that. During the investigation, FB also revealed to the Boston Police precisely what parts of the entire site the user accessed, including profiles, photos, and groups he merely viewed.

Again, Facebook’s probably under intense pressure to cooperate, but at what point is the government surveillance simply too much?
