Apple To Build New Data Center In Oregon

If the future is in the cloud, then server space is only going to become increasingly more valuable/vital as users expect to access more and more of their data via the web. Apple is inoculating against that scenario with the construction of an all-new data center in Prineville, Oregon, the company confirmed recently.

The new center will be 10,000 square feet and cost about $250 million. It will join Apple's sprawling facility in North Carolina as a key piece of the company's cloud strategy.

Facebook, another company with a lot of data to push around, also has a data center in Prineville.
