Angry Birds Space Released But Windows Phone Owners Won't Be Getting It (Update)

Angry Birds Space was released for iPhone, iPad, and Android yesterday, the latest iteration in the inexplicably popular series. In case you forgot all about it since the International Space Station and NASA (really?) announced it two weeks ago, the presence of zero-gravity situations should breathe some fresh life into the game. However, Windows Phone owners will miss out on this edition altogether, with Rovio CMO Peter Vesterbacka explaining to Bloomberg, “… it’s a big undertaking to support it, and you have to completely rewrite the application.”

The iOS app is available for $0.99, while the iPad HD app retails for $2.99. The Android version is once again ad-supported and free. Mikael Hed

Update:

We have good news for the growing legion of Windows Phone users. Rovio's chief executive, Mikael Hed, released a statement today saying that Angry Birds Space will eventually make it to Microsoft's mobile platform. Though Hed did not give a timeline as to when the game would make it to Windows Phone, he did say his team is working on it: "We are working towards getting Angry Birds Space to WP7."
