Hulu debuted its first original scripted series last night, which, for those keeping score at home, means both it and Netflix have officially entered the scripted original content game.
Hulu's first offering is Battleground— a half-hour mockumentary style comedy about the innerworkings of a U.S. Senate campaign in Wisconsin. Previously, the free TV and movie streamer launched the actual documentary series A Day In The Life from Super Size Me's Morgan Spurlock. And they've also got a exclusive U.S. rights to a few foreign-produced dramas, like the U.K.'s Misfits and Canada's Endgame.
Now that both Netflix and Hulu have begun campaigns to be the web's first premium TV channel, two big questions remain: Is the viewing public ready for the paradigm shift? And can either hit it out of the park like AMC did in 2007 with Mad Men? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
