In a somewhat ironic turn of events, Amazon is rumored to be planning a brick-and-mortar retail store after famously underwriting the demise of scores of physical book sellers across the country. The store, said to be a test-site in Seattle, would sell the company's growing line of e-Readers in addition to some exclusive books and other "high-end" goods. The big question is whether Amazon's incentives (whatever they may be) and brand loyalty (previously based on an unmatched ability to easily and reliably ship a wide variety of goods ordered online) are strong enough to beat other brick-and-mortar retailers on their own turf.
