The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), the Republican-backed legislation pushing for overreaching censorship of sites withoout due process, has lost a big supporter in GoDaddy, following widespread backlash.
In a boycott against GoDaddy yesterday, users defected over to other domain registrars forcing GD CEO Warren Adelman to issue an apology for his company’s initial support of the bill, writing, “GoDaddy opposes SOPA because the legislation has not fulfilled its basic requirements to build a consensus among stake-holders in the technology and Internet communities.”
As it stands, the bill still holds support from some of the biggest companies in the world, from ABC to Estee Lauder and Major League Baseball—in all, mostly “old” media companies who failed to sufficiently adapt to the times now looking for a handout from the government.

Actually it is a screwup equally by both parties. Daryl Issa, a Republican is actually a big opponent (and he even delightfully mocks the clueless fools that support it. We'll get rid of the Republican idiot Lamar Smith. More government regulation and Crony Capitalism is a Democratic principal not a conservative one. People just don't like bad regulation when it impact them instead of regulating someone else. Lamar Smith is a dead RINO.
