Mark Zuckerberg Sheds Light On His Relationship With Steve Jobs, Apple

During a rare sitdown interview for last night’s broadcast of Charlie Rose, Mark Zuckerberg addressed the acquisition rumors between Apple and Facebook and also revealed that he asked Steve Jobs for advice on how to build a better Facebook team.

“I don’t think it ever really got there,” Zuckerberg said about talks of Apple buying Facebook, continuing, “I mean, nor would I have wanted to sell it.” Jobs, Zuckerberg said, recognized his position and thus never raised the issue, even in passing.

However, the two tech pioneers did discuss Facebook’s future in some regard, with Zuckerberg admitting, “I had a lot of questions for him on how to build a team around you, [that’s] focused on building as high quality and good things as you are. How to keep an organization focused, right, when I think the tendency for larger companies is to try to fray and go into all these different areas.” According to Zuckerberg, the two shared a mutual respect for wanting to build companies that sought to change the world, first and foremost.

On the contrary, though, Zuckerberg’s admiration for Google was considerably less, calling Google+ “their own little Facebook.”
