Microsoft Reveals Plans For Skype

Even after Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype was finalized a week ago, five months since it was first announced, the company’s plans for the videoconferencing solution was still a mystery. In a press release this week announcing record profits for the last fiscal quarter, Microsoft has provided some hints, announcing plans to integrate Skype into corporate IM client Lync, gen-pop IM client Live Messenger, and, most importantly, Xbox Live. So next time you lose to an thirteen-year-old in Gears of War, you’ll have to suffer the ignominy of seeing the pockmarked adolescent who just kicked your ass.

Additionally, Microsoft has also stated emphatically in the past that the Skype experience won't change—which doesn’t bode well for seeing upgrades to the service’s clunky UI.
